book project

For this project we were creating sculptural forms out of ordinary paperback books.  I choose Ikea’s magazine book and I choose the colored magazine because I wanted the color to appear in my sculpture to attract the eye and to hide the book . When I first examine the book I found that the pages are laid parallel and organized together and that means that I can easily have a regular form of sculpture which I dont want. I thought of doing an abstract building using the book . I also add geometric shapes to my concept using a combination of folding and cutting pages . and to add volume, I used cutting and gluing pieces together. In this project I explored texture, color and shapes . Finally I succeed resolving the problem and I turned the book to a 3D building sculpture .
